Buildnow GG Tips —
How to Win Every Match
Whether you're just starting out or looking to compete at a higher level, this guide covers everything from beginner fundamentals to advanced building sequences.
Beginner Tips
Aim first, build second
Mechanics come faster than building. Spend your first few matches just hitting shots — add building once aim feels natural.
Practice in low-stakes matches
Use unranked or casual modes to try new builds and strategies. Don't grind ranked until a mechanic feels automatic.
Learn one build at a time
Start with a simple ramp and wall combo before trying complex sequences. One solid build beats ten sloppy ones.
Set a consistent sensitivity
Pick a sensitivity and stick with it for at least a week. Muscle memory takes time — changing settings constantly resets your progress.
Learn the default keybinds
Defaults are Z (wall), X (floor), C (ramp), V (roof), F (edit). They're well-positioned for left-hand play — stick with them long enough to build muscle memory before changing anything.
Building Strategies
The 90 (Basic Build)
The "90" is the foundation of competitive building. Place a wall, jump, place a ramp, then turn 90 degrees and repeat. Done correctly, you gain high ground on your opponent in a few seconds. Practice it slowly first — speed comes after the motion is memorised. The 90 is the first thing to learn after basic movement.
Ramp Rush
A ramp rush means building ramps directly toward your opponent to close distance fast while staying elevated. Sprint forward, drop ramps under you, and keep your crosshair on your target. This works especially well when your opponent isn't building — you arrive above them and can shoot down. The risk: if they destroy your ramp, you fall. Always have a wall ready to catch yourself.
Box Fight Tactics
A box fight is a close-range duel inside a tight structure. Build a quick box around yourself (four walls and a floor above), then edit openings to peek and shoot. The goal is to control the edit angles — take the peek when your opponent isn't expecting it and close it before they can react. Box fights reward patience and quick editing more than raw aim.
Best Settings Guide
| Setting | Recommended Value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mouse Sensitivity | 3–6 | Start at 3, raise if turning feels slow |
| FOV | 90–100° | Higher FOV = more peripheral awareness |
| FPS Cap | Unlimited | Enable the unlimited FPS option in settings for maximum smoothness |
| Wall keybind | Z (default) | Pinky finger — fast to hit without leaving WASD |
| Floor keybind | X (default) | Index finger row — pairs with Z for quick boxing |
| Ramp keybind | C (default) | Natural thumb/index reach for ramp rushes |
| Roof keybind | V (default) | Less-used but essential for complete box sealing |
| Edit keybind | F (default) | Index finger, close to WASD — never miss an edit window |
Advanced Tactics
Piece Control
Destroy your opponent's floor, then immediately build your own in the same spot. This traps them in your structure and forces a box fight on your terms. Requires fast edits and precise timing.
Double Edit
Edit two openings in rapid succession — an upper window to bait a shot, then a lower door to peek from an unexpected angle. The key is speed: both edits happen within one second.
Mongraal Classic
A building rotation that combines a 90, a floor-wall, and an immediate edit to get above an opponent who is trying to re-center beneath you. High-risk, high-reward — practice it in aim maps first.
Waterfall
Build ramps while falling to break the fall and disorient your opponent. Place a ramp just before you land to avoid fall damage and immediately enter a fight from an unexpected position.
Cone Control
Place a cone (roof piece) inside your opponent's build to block their edits. Once their structure has a cone they can't control, they're stuck — you own the box. Requires fast placement the moment you break their wall.
How to Win Zone Wars
Zone Wars is Buildnow GG's battle royale-inspired mode — a shrinking zone forces up to 6 players into increasingly tight spaces. The strategy is different from a standard 1v1.
Rotate early
Never be caught outside the zone. Watch the storm and start moving a full rotation ahead — late rotators arrive low on materials and get punished.
Control high ground before fights
In a 6-player lobby there's no time for prolonged box fights. Get above the lobby quickly, then pick your fights from elevation.
Conserve materials
Unlike 1v1 modes, you can't always farm freely. Use one wall and one ramp to defend rather than full boxes — you'll need materials for the final circle.
Third-party aggressively
When two opponents fight each other, push the winner immediately. They'll be low on health and materials — the easiest elimination you'll get.
Box up in the final circle
In the last 2–3 players, build a full box and play for edits rather than rushing. One mistake in the open ends the game.
